Caring for Mulberry Silk…It’s Easier Than You Think!

Luckily, caring for our silk is a breeze, so cast those worries aside and check out our simple Do’s and Don’ts of caring for your mulberry silk items. We think you’ll be surprised at just how easy it is to keep your silk looking fresh and new.

Mulberry Silk DO’s

For your Eye Mask and Scrunchie:

• Hand washing is preferred.
• Use an eco-friendly detergent labeled for silk.
• Lay flat to air dry.

For your Pillowcases:

• Hand wash or machine-wash with cold or low-temperature water (maximum 86°F).
• Select the delicates cycle on your washing machine.
• Use eco-friendly silk detergent.
• Wash separately or with like colors
• Lay flat to dry.

DON'Ts:

• Expose to direct sunlight.
• Use bleach, softeners, or harsh stain removers.
• Wash with any hard/heavy fabrics or clothing/bedding with zippers.
• Wash too frequently. Washing every week or two is fine.
• Soak, scrub, or wring out your silk.
• Tumble dry in the dryer. 

Here are a few additional tips that will help extend the life of your mulberry silk:

• As is the case with many natural fabrics, you may notice a slight contracting of the silk fibers after washing. This is a natural occurrence that is quickly resolved by using a cool iron. 
• If you decide to machine wash your pillowcase, we recommend placing it in a mesh laundry bag to reduce the risk of snags.
